Howdy Folks!

I'm on a new adventure with podcasting and I hope to create a tips and support group on here. I feel just like I did in 2009 when I started FS and Y, which is really exciting.

Hopefully this thread can provide some tips and suggestions for new and intermediate podcasters.

As for my setup, I just installed the Blurbrry Plugin as my recorder, use this handy cam recorder with a SIM card to transfer to WP Media, take the link, drop the link in the post on the bottom, verify, and voila. Oh yeah, I save in 128mb MP3.

I have no experience in recording a fancy intro or fancy exit if anybody has any times.

Here's my first podcast entitled, "Genesis". I plan to create 3-5 and then upload them at once to iTunes and Stitcher and then upload one a week or two for a year and see how things go. Feedback welcome!

Sam

Can't wait to hear them all Sam! I am thinking about doing some speaking myself, and step one of that would be either putting together some podcasts or at least a video presentation of some hot topics. I need to push myself to do either one of these…

Hey Sam! Congrats on podcasting; I just released my first episode so I'm happy to have someone else to compare notes with Smile. Like you I'm excited about to connect with readers in a new way.

Listening to Genesis right now and I have to say you have a wonderful podcast voice!

I use a Blue Yeti mic for my recording, Skype & Amolto for interviews, and put everything together in Audacity to edit and mix.

I'm releasing the first few episodes on the site, gain feedback from readers/listeners, and then I'll submit to Stitcher and iTunes.

Wish you the best on the new project!

Good stuff Elle. Thanks for the software suggestion. How long do you plan to do the episodes for and what's been your feedback so far?

All I can think about is doing podcasts now and not write!

I like your voice too! What did you use or who to create your intro?

Thx

Regards,

Sam

Thanks Sam! Jim from Microblogger suggested Audio Jungle for music clips and I use Fiverr to have someone do the intro. My hope is to get some original work done should things take off.

I've committed myself to 20 episodes, I think that will give me enough time to get comfortable and gauge feedback from listeners. I will say, though, that I'm enjoying learning about podcasting and there is a very good chance I'll just go for a year and see what happens (though I would like to get sponsors before then!).

With a rough pregnancy this time around, it's taken longer than I planned to get started, but I think pocasting fits right in with the work schedule I want to have.

Hi Folks,

I've been podcasting for a few years using Blog Talk Radio. Sadly, I have not added any to iTunes though. That's on my to-do list. BTR actually has an iTunes connection that I don't know why I haven't looked into it. I would love to connect with others. Oh, I also use Audacity to edit. I like it. I've interview nationally known authors (no Dave Ramsey yet, but I'm getting there). It's actually fairly easy to get people to talk about themselves. :)

Elle,

I'm also getting back into a consistent schedule – slowly – after a new baby. So I understand!

Sam, I'll check out Genesis shortly!

Toni – Let me know when it's on iTunes. I'll do my best to promote it!

I do a podcast with my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter called Five Minutes With Dad (www.FiveMintuesWithDad.com is our site there).  And I'm launching a marriage podcast called Confessions of a Terrible Husband (www.ATerribleHusband.com).

I keep it very simple technology wise, but I'd be happy to try and answer/promote as best I can.

BTW, I got my Five Minutes With Dad intro on Fiverr but paid more $$ for my Confessions of a Terrible Husband one.  I record with an ATR-2100 ($60 on Amazon) directly into Audacity, export to MP3, use Libsyn as my host and put it on my site, iTunes and Stitcher using the Libsyn feed.

Elle – You might also want to chat with Derek and Carrie Olsen (www.DerekAndCarrie.com).  They are in a similar money/marriage niche, have a podcast, and were guests on my Confessions podcast.  I can make an intro if you'd like.

I just started to chatting with them on Twitter; love their podcast! That's a great idea to ask them. Thanks for suggesting it. I do need to get better about asking others to be on the show. I've started with Yakezie members because I'm more familiar with them and I feel less nervous. (something I definitely need to get over with podcasting!)

I'll shoot Derek an email this week and see what happens.
