I've found that in general i have a slate of 10-15 or so top performing articles that bring in the most via adsense income, and then i have a whole bunch of articles that are bringing in a few dollars every month. When you add them all up it adds up to quite a bit of money.

I tend to watch what is doing well in analytics for adsense income, and write more of the same, interlink articles/etc.

In general the beginning of the year is great for adsense due to tax related topics/etc - and then the summer months usually drop off a bit, and then build towards the end of the year again.

April started out somewhat slow - I was getting about 1 click/day for the last 2 weeks in March. Nothing in April until yesterday. Out of nowhere, $8.61 appeared in my account.

I've seen a nice increase in Adsense this month compared to last month but I thought that all the tinkering I did with my Adsense last month was finally paying off. Whatever is causing the increase I'm glad to see my Adsense income heading up again.

@Kevin - How hard would it be for you to move the navigation from the right to the left? If you could do it, I would consider doing it, just because you're sure to see a lot more clickthroughs. When people read, they read left to right in an "F" pattern, so sidebar ads probably aren't going to do that much if you through them right where people are most interested in reading.

@ Suba - You won't lose as much traffic as you think. I would venture to guess that you'll still get somewhere in the area of 30% of your current tax related traffic through August...Then expect it to start picking up big time again in December. A lot of bloggers tend to avoid cyclical topics like these, which is a shame because they are high CPC and low competition, for the most part. Google is starting to get better at rewarding people who write about things first, mostly based on when the post hit the net. So I'd keep blogging about tax-related stuff through the year, interlink them, and then be stoked when December rolls around!

April has been the best, but most of my clicks are from tax related posts, so I am expecting it to go down significantly after April 18th.

A side question for senior bloggers... Do you have an even spread of posts bringing in the revenue or a few posts/categories dominating? After tax season I should expect my adsense to go down by 75% if the search hits are 75% tax related posts? right? If everyone else have an even spread, I should work on bringing in different topics, so far I have been writing what is relevant to my personal life at that time. It is scary to think all the traffic is going to disappear on April 18th... Any advice?

Wish I could tell you. My traffic definitely isn't large enough to warrant a bunch of ads and driving readers away. I have one sidebar add that gets about 1 click a month (it was a little more in the beginning). I've been blogging since September and I'm still $50 away from that first $100 check.

I operate mostly in the financial space online–brokerages, mortgages, etc.–so when the financial crisis came my network-wide adsense dropped like a rock.

It seems like since the start of 2Q, adsense clicks have REALLY picked it up in the financial space. Today, I had 8 clicks on a smaller site worth just over $15…that's $1.875 per click, and an amount that is starting to fall in line with pre-subprime blowup.

Anyone else seeing an uptick in CPCs? I think this may be the best year for Adsense site recovery.
