Hi Kristia,

I have heard of them. I received the same email. They are real. These days when you get something that sounds to good to be true it is usually not, but that is their way of recruiting come to find out. They need reporters or people who can write in every city. They are like a temp agency for reporters. I joined and I got paid for a couple jobs I was out on. Not a full time position or anything. More like a side job or side fun.

Anyway, they are not a scam. They do get you into events as press. That is how you get in for free. Kind of better than paying for a ticket access wise anyway.

Been with them for a couple of months and it is going OK as I mentioned. Hard to find work these days.

I have not been with them long but feel free to ask me anything. If I do not know the answer I will ask them.

KathyGene,

First, no one attacked you. We were just asking more about who you were. It's hard to know how much value your statement has if we have no idea who you are, especially if the promotion of some product or service is all positive. If you are wanting to talk to just one person, you can use the PM option from these forums.

Secondly, you have to understand that when a post is 1 years old and someone posts on it (who has never posted in these forums before), it is pretty much the case that that person is trying to promote some product or business. The average person wouldn't have stumbled across this thread – but only those who were looking for interactions on the internet about this company. The only reason why your motivations were challenged is because there are people who are new to this forums and some of us who have been around the block once or twice do not want anyone to be misled into something without thinking critically about the source of information. It's one thing to be working for a business and promote something, it is another thing entirely to pretend to be a satisfied customer and publish your own reviews – which is how it appeared for your response.

Since you are a freelance writer, I am sure you understand the part about validating sources.

****TOTALLY UNDERSTAND. thank you!

Hey there bloggers ~ Have any of you received an email from American Media Distribution looking for independent freelancers to cover events such as Music, Concerts, Sporting Events, Restaurant Openings, Movies, Gallery Openings, Shows, and others. Again, there is no cost for admission to any of the events, and no obligation is required. I asked for more information from them, but I'm trying to find someone who might have worked with them to see if it is legit.

Thanks,
