For the ones who want to build their 'author rank' there are three important things (I gather):

 

1) To write;

2) To write on variety of blogs, sites etc.

3) to link to these publications through the Google+ profile

 

That's all and very useful it is. If you search in Google for 'money management' I am the third entry or so; and it isn't my blog, it is my Google+ profile.

My understanding is that it is a 10 point logarithmic scale, like MozRank. I'm at 5.92 and I know that some of the sites I'm working on are lowering my score.

I found this tool on Google+ earlier today that helps you figure out how well you are doing for building up your author rank.
