I have about 120GB of backup on Wuala. It is encrypted before it leaves your computer, but I use double encryption using TrueCrypt just in case.

Something really neat about Wuala is that you can gain extra storage by sharing space on your computer. In addition to their central servers they also distrubute data amongst participating computers, which reduces their cost and increases redundancy. So long as you leave your computer running (and don't have bandwidth limits, or at least have a sufficient limit) you can gain large amounts of storage for free.

As far as the websites go I download a full copy about once a month and also have the DB emailed once a week. Maybe that's not enough...?

I use the "Wordpress Database Backup" plugin that automatically backups my database every night and emails it me. I use Google Apps for Your Domain, so my mail is stored on Google's servers, not my host's.

Then every once in a while (I'm horrible at remembering, actually, so I just put a monthly reminder in my Google calendar) I do a manual backup. That file is stored on my laptop, which gets backed up using Mozy. I also copy it over to a flashdrive on my keyring.

What is the plugin to backup to Amazon? I'd be very interested in that.

For those using a db backup plugin - you might as well have your db sent every day. To send it to a gmail account is free with lots of storage (unless your site is really that big).

Why risk losing an article or comments?

I back up my site with a Joomla extension called Akeeba Backup. I then download that from the server and keep a copy on both of my pcs and on a thumb drive. I download backkups of the blog and the template and do the same. Once a week for both.

However, I also keep a copy of all articles in Open Office on my hard drive. Back in May I viewed a site which hacked into my pc and hid all the files on my hard drive plus some other nasty stuff which I am still recovering from. I had just backed up some of my hard drive directories, but not all.

My software engineer son says I should back up to an external hard drive as well, which I haven't done as yet. I do keep copies of pictures and other docs in my safety deposit box as well - but just on a yearly basis.

Losing everything would definitely be very scary. I think I have 200 articles that I've written (all original) and I do not have many of them saved elsewhere. I think it's about time to make sure my files are indeed backed up.

Khaleef, can't you just add another copy to be sent to your gmail?

Also anyone see any problem with backing up on the Amazon cloud?

I think I can do that - or just change the email address.

But I still would like to backup the emails - I have a lot of important correspondence that I would lose.

I've never heard of Amazon cloud - how large is the free storage?

5 GB storage, 20000 get, 2000 put and 15 gb transfer free. As I store only the last 2 weeks' copy at any time, I didn't have to pay so far. to hit 5 gig you will need to have a LOT of posts/pictures. Even if you cross the limit it is 0.140 per GB. I don't think I will be hitting even 1 GB anytime soon :). The backups are zipped. To give you an idea, I have ~250 posts, most of them have an image which is stored too and I use thesis. So everything put together, my zip file is 35 MB.
