I use Newsblur constantly. I like the interface, and the easy sharing options. It's great in a browser, great on iOS.

For the Android, it syncs slowly. Sometimes, it doesn't mark the items as read, so I see them again in the browser. Sometimes, it doesn't want to load all of my items. I am a bit of a power RSS user, so I may just be taxing the system with 307 subscriptions.

I decided to take a wait-and-see approach since there was a few months, and I'm curious what people think who have already switched to new services. For those who commented that the 'new' services were slow from all the migrations, have you noticed any improvement?

For those looking for a mobile alternative, I highly recommend Flipboard App.

I've put together a tutorial about how to set it up, since it isn't obvious:

Flipboard came as bloatware on my phone and I haven't used it once. I don't even know what it does, so I'm definitely going to read this. It looks like I was probably the only one who never used Google Reader.

Businesses have to be profitable. I doubt you'd find any company that would maintain a product that loses money.

I understand that. It was apparent that they could never figure out a way to consistently deliver ads that would make it a profit center. Still, it was a service used by hundreds of thousands, and every one of those users would be in 'Google' pages for as long as they were active. I have a tab open with my Reader all day.

So, it means there are that many less touches to Google. I can't see that as a good thing, and to me there's value in those users spending that much time on a Google page that I think has inherent value, but apprently Google doesn't see it that way.

Sounds interesting. Google has been going the wrong way with accessibility over the last year, so it would be nice to be able to easily read things again. Why does everyone want to use grey text!?!

Like every other service, it seems, they are struggling with overload ATM.

I officially hate the feedly android app. It makes reading far less convenient.

Newsblur took a while to import and update, but I do follow 304 feeds, so it's hard to blame them for that. Haven't tested their app, yet.

So far, Newsblur is disappointing, but that's probably just server overload. It's super slow this morning, but looks pretty. If I can get it to start moving a bit faster, I'll probably drop the $12 annual fee to go premium, just to give it a better test.

Jason, if you try NewsBlur, let us know how you like it!
