Since you are focused pretty heavy on Twitter, you should have a prominent follow button near the top.

Also, I'd move the Categories menu to the menu bar and put a call to action there as well (Join the Melee! or something like that). That way you can get subscribers. If you prefer people subscribe via Twitter, then you can make that even more prominent.

For SEO I'd get the Yoast Wordpress SEO plugin, does almost everything.

Otherwise just resist the urge to add more widgets.
