I ran a series once and it was a major flop. Since then I haven't gone back, though looking back, my topic was probably a little far reaching. If I were to try again, I think I would try with topics that I write more about and for which I have metrics that show that it would likely be engaging to my readers.

It's a nice change of pace.

I run series posts quite often. It's almost getting to the point where I do more series than single posts. I think it helps to get more page clicks as they are likely to look at other posts in the series. Plus you can build "resources" pages that list each post in the series and supposedly can rank well because they are link and keyword rich.

Here are some of them:

The "How Do You Get Out of Debt?" series http://www.cfinancialfreedom.c.....ebt-series

"I Bought a House!" series starting with this post http://www.cfinancialfreedom.c.....t-a-house/

Currently working on the "Secure Your Future" series starting with this post http://www.cfinancialfreedom.c.....re-part-1/

I have published a 13 money resolutions for 2013 series at the beginning of the year, over 3 weeks, and my traffic stats were up. I don't know if this is because of the series or because it was more PF than usual. As a reader I enjoy them too, especially the ones about someone's story, if it is too long to fit in one post.

I've occasionally continued on a theme with the next post, like in November when I spent two posts talking about computers- first on how I was saving money by upgrading and then on how to get some money from getting rid of the old one.

I also did a 4 part series back in 2011 on LinkedIn back when I was still blogging on job searching. Put together, it was 2056 words. That said, I also published that series over 4 consecutive days instead of once per week which was my posting schedule at the time. I was worried that if I dedicated an entire month to one topic, I'd loose readers.

What do you guys think about running a series/theme?

For example, this month I'm covering travel and travel-related topics. Next month I will look at a rental property. What do you think about this approach? Have you ever ran a series?
