As of right now I manually tweet and post links on Facebook via Hootesuite.

I've also seen the Feedburner option for auto tweets and others here have mentioned a plugin for wordpress. I was wondering if there are any pros/cons to using Feedburner vs a plugin that anyone knows about or is it just personal preference?

I use Feedburner to auto-Tweet all of my posts to an account used from Twitter only and re-Tweet it with my main account. I like Twiter for the value of interacting and finding new content. I get some traffic from it, but just a small portion.

I personally am more of an RSS feed and facebook user than a Twitter user, but Twitter makes it easy to set up an auto-feed, and so I make it available for readers of my site who prefer that media outlet! I would recommend!

these are some excellent tips that i have noted down for when i think i am ready for twitter. thank you everyone for providing them.

i decided it's too early for me to tweet. i want to fous on establishing my blog first. i do have twitter incorporated, and an auto tweet gets out after i release each post (same for facebook) - but i believer twitter has some very specific uses and benefits, and unfortunately those are not as high in my agenda as of now. i rather focus on SEO, backlink building, and then move on to social media

Thanks for the great Twitter tips. I am already seeing a slight increase in traffic... i am sorry i have underestimated Twitter up until this point. I actually have tried a few tips from this forum this weekend (Twitter, SEO, and blogging on a current event) and all three seem to have had some success already. I am so very impressed with the amount of knowledge on this forum.

Google recently started weighting Twitter into their organic search results. That is, all things being equal, a tweeted post will rank higher than a non-tweeted post. To what degree I still haven't found, but I know to some extent it is related to the number of tweets. I had a post surge through the SERPs after getting retweeted a few times, and a lot of people have reported increases even on ecommerce pages.

A few things you should think about:

1. Follow as many Yakezie members as possible, so you get a good feed and they see who you are on Twitter.

2. In the WP to Twitter settings, there is a place to include hashtags. Include #yakezie on the end of your posts so that users can search for what you post.

3. Respond to people using @username so they can follow the conversation

I think Twitter is useful as well, but as BFS said, you should automate the process by using a Plugin such as WP-to-Twitter. You can even customize your tweet to include hashtags such as #yakezie.

When I posted about Best Buy, my post was retweeted a lot, and I received a lot of traffic.

However, my number 1 refering site right now is acutally Facebook. I'm getting over 20 hits a day from my fans to my site. It seems to be the new way they are following me.

I recommend using twitter. i have multiple accounts, but on my main one I have my most loyal follower and according to analytics I get 15-20% of my traffic from twitter. If you can learn to leverage it, it can be very valuable asset in your blogging aresenal. - Gene

I think setting up an automatic Twitter feed makes it easier on your followers who really enjoy Twitter, but I suck with everything else Tweet-related. It is a very useful tool though!
