Hmmm... I'm a really frugal person but would not be opposed to a man getting me flowers and a limo for a date, assuming he had budgeted for it and wasn't in debt!

Interesting subject, but I think frugality is relative. A high income date may involve a significant cash outlay and still be frugal. Low income dates could conceivably involve a much lower expense but be considered extravagant and unsustainable by comparison.
I think you just need to be yourself with money, and hope this will eventually connect you with compatible partners.

Let's be real here. If a man came out right away in a profile and said he was frugal and didn't like to spend much money, would he really be successful in that realm? :)

Of course, honesty is the best long term, so you never know. But really - if you know before the first date that they guy won't want to spend much money and prefers to save, how will that go over?

Who was expecting flowers and a limo? I'm pretty sure even when I wanted those things it was never on the table, haha!

As for frugal dates I think perhaps it's the circles I run in, but they're typically all pretty frugal when I date guys still in college...the ones that have steady jobs and *aren't* in graduate school seem to prefer fancier digs- not sure if that's more about them or more about me.

I think if you specify on something like OKCupid that you're trying to save money that's an option...but then again, I've seen that bringing up money at all in the beginning is iffy and makes you look cheap even if you're just being honest or smart with your spending. mmI don't think there are any dating sites out there based solely on frugal compatibility but I'd be all over that!

I think there are totally other things you can do to show you care that don't involve money. Being reliable, lending a helping hand and totally getting your mate's family to adore you are smart (and frugal) ideas ;) Then again...flowers *are nice.

I got all excited for a minute because I thought you were starting a dating site.

I've never heard of anything like that but I think it's an awesome idea. That way all the people who expect flowers and a limo on the first date can go elsewhere, and the people who are okay with a free or cheap date can hang out and meet someone who won't be offended.

I'm getting ready to publish a post where I mention the idea of how single-serving size packages are so un-economical. Then I started thinking about all the frugal dates Mrs. Frugal and I enjoy. This got me to thinking, is there a good dating site out there focused on single people who want to not spend lots on dates?

How much you care about a person shouldn't have to reflect how much you spend on them, right?

What do you guys think?
