I agree with the others. Start slow and just try to stay regular. 1-2 posts a week. Being consistent is one of the best things with readership in my opinion. Beware not to overload yourself or you will get discouraged. And yes, blog what you feel- people like hearing about others lives.

Thanks everyone!

I talked with some other bloggers (mainly mom blogs) and I have 8 guest posts to write!

@Crystal - You're right, I should just blog what I'm thinking and feeling. Unfortunately, I can't blog one thing until we make the official announcement (but if you can all keep a BIG secret.... ahem... we're expecting again. #2 and #3 will be a chaotic 13 months apart. Save me.) So until we make that announcement (which will be soon, I really don't want to wait), there's a few posts I can't really get to just yet.

I didn't do much for pregnancy and new baby this last time, so maybe I can get a list of topics together and work away on those.

I'll be working on some small goals (things like commenting, # of posts per week, etc) to start out with. Thanks!

Congrats on the baby. Perhaps you can blend the two, post about personal finance and how things changed with the little one since you are a grab bag. I'm sure it would be helpful to new parents. Just a thought. I agree with the others, get a post schedule, whatever you can handle. Also make the blog rounds with reading and commenting to get your name back out there. Good luck!

If I had a baby, Budgeting in the Fun Stuff would go full on baby mode for a while. Baby stuff, baby complaints, baby costs, etc. I blog about what's on my mind, so go with what's on yours! People like stuff from the heart and you need to be able to vent anyway.

As for getting back on schedule, make a small list of daily to-do's that you will not allow yourself to skip. I have 5 HAVE TO DO's:

- answer advertiser emails from my site and my clients
- make sure BFS has a post up every day
- make sure How I Make Money Blogging has at least 2 posts a week
- finish my freelancing tasks for the day
- update my spreadsheets with all new data

Commenting, Yakezie, my other blogs, other projects, and everything else fills in any extra time I can scrimp together, but those 5 things have to be done every day before I allow myself to go to sleep.

It is hard with a new baby, and it can feel discouraging to try to get back to where you were. Maybe you could take an hour or two away from the family on the weekend to write a few posts that you can schedule for your blog for the week. Then, during the week, your blog can be hands off and you can focus on family except for tweeting and writing on Facebook. Then you won't feel stressed trying to fit blogging in with your other work.

I think you just have to set reasonable goals that can fit in your schedule. This may mean posting once or twice a week and reconnecting with your readers. You can slowly work yourself back into the swing of things without stressing yourself out.
