The response hasn't been overwhelming, but I can tell a few fellow bloggers have spotted the incentive and made some (on the whole) value contributions to discussions, so it has been worth it. No real extra spam problems noted so far.

Every couple of days I'll remind readers via Twitter that they can "earn a front page link" etc, which at the moment only requires about 6 or 7 quality comments to make the bottom of the list, so if anybody's interested please take a look and feel free to leave some comments.....

I'm hoping the spam doesn't become too terrible but I don't mind managing it, and I hope to see an increase in comments/continued discussion.
