I guess the best way to do this with gmail is to create your own email acct with your host name like info@yourhostname.com. You can get all the features like any of a gmail acct since your email acct will be hosted on google server. Let me know if you need help in creating one such.

I find it really frustrating to search for domain names and find that most are taken by squatters... but unfortunately, without a trademark there is not much you can do.

One thing you could do is add the ".com" to the gmail -- is that taken?

I setup my gmail account to let me send as Eric@narrowbridge.net. I suggest using a custom domain rather than gmail address because it looks much more professional.

This is what I do too. I have all of my emails set up for my individual domains, but they all come to a single gmail account (that I can also reply from).

Usually it does show the address they originally emailed. Sometimes it shows that with a little "via" link that includes the gmail address it went through. It depends on how the end user's email headers are set up.

Corey, play around with google apps (webmaster tools)- that way you don't have to create a gmail email account. Your vanity one will be hosted in gmail.

Alternatively you can go to GMAIL>Mailsettings>Accounts>Send Mail as> add the second email address. This way when you reply it auto selects the email address the correct email.

I use google apps and have my vanity email address set up thru gmail. Its super simple to do. Of course this is possible if you have a self-hosted site.

How about toad@thenewsite.com (or whatever)? It's not a huge deal to setup vanity addresses that just pass mails to whatever Gmail address you want. In fact, most hosts will offer you a CPanel to do it incredibly easy.

unfortunatelly they can't do anything about it. same with domain names, I had a boss in the past that was obsessed with buying every domain name you can think of, this is about 10 years ago. It really is first come first serve.

I just set up a new blog myself without checking gmail as well. Unfortunately, the name was taken so I just added the word "blog" at the end (iam1percentblog@gmail.com).

See if thefrugaltoadblog@gmail.com is available. Otherwise, try Yahoo or Hotmail.

Unless it's trademarked you probably don't have any recourse.

If you are on self-hosted Wordpress you can probably set up your own email account like: admin@frugaltoad.com
