Update on my spammer: I sent the email offering to do the post for a sponsorship fee. She emailed back and said she couldn't pay a fee, but would provide a link on her PR 2 site. I said no; I only take posts from personal blogs. I thought that was the end of it.

So this morning I get a poorly written article and a link to this horrible link farm blog - not a single post comment, all followers have similar link farm blogs with poorly written articles probably pulled from Wikipedia or something. Also, while the email came from "Michelle Davis," the blog is run by "Sara James." And most of the links go to another blog run by "Veronica Brown." For all the time these people spend churning out fake content under multiple fake names, they could probably have an actual blog.

It makes me want to bang my head on something! So frustrating! I think my response this time might have gotten rid of her, though.

I am about to write a bit of a rant post about Guest Post e-mails, I don't like Cold Calls about Insurance or Newspapers, why would I like them attempting to add things to my small business?

Definitely sounds like a sponsored guest post, though the .org part throws a little ringer in it. Check out their website first and see if they are making any money from their business (and because it says credit repair, I suspect they are).

Interesting, I never thought about turning these inquiries into a paid sponsored post. The latest incarnation for me is "Emily Jones", connected to the OakView Law group, a debt consolidation law firm. I declined, not only because the the lawyer dude that pops up on the screen when you visit their site seems a little "greasy".

To answer someone's question above - 9 times out of 10 I don't get a response, but that 1 response can be worth $50 to $125...so is it worth cutting and pasting that reply? I think so lol

No, they're not all scams. They are people trying to make a buck w/o spending money – entirely different thing. Each and every one of these requests should be answered, and answered respectfully but with the caveat that if they care to link to a business the post is considered sponsored and as such rates need to be negotiated.

I had a request from a writer who wanted to swap posts. They would post on my site and I would get to post on their PR4 site. I responded with an advertising inquiry and turned the transaction into $325. As MJTM stated, never close a door that has been opened to you – you never know where curtousey and a sales pitch can get you.

Your comment that you use didnt come through? What do you say to these people? If you dont want to type in here, please email me at justinweinger@aol.com This one specific site confuses me though, they say they offer free advice, I cant see a product they sell on their site (creditrepair"dot" org).

Personal Finance Journey, if you see this, give me a heads up on your thoughts, since I notice they link to your site in their resources section.
