Thanks guys! I don't think we are going to go that route anyway, especially now after reading your comments.

Picking up on the carnival comment, are carnivals considered "safe" to submit your articles to? Are they "safe" to host?

Do what Jeff Rose did. Build out some niche sites that drive traffic and links back to your main site.

Certainly... I would say guest posting, but I dont know that I would label it a "guest post", and not sure why people always feel the need to.

I dont think carnivals are an issue, as long as they are relevant sites hosting and submitting...there was random conjecture last year that carnivals might have played a roll in the PR penalty and for some odd reason it has stuck ever since.

Lastly...it can just happen... people link because they link... like they always have with community involvement in the forums, and general interaction with each other here in the Yakezie.

I'll jump on the "I agree with Justin" train. I actually discussed this topic with another blogger a few months ago who DID get smacked by Google for link building done by the third party. Not pretty.

I have never hired anyone, but before you do I would just suggest that you get a lot of detail on exactly how he plans to go about the link building. You could run into someone who gets your site penalized by either doing things which directly go against Google's terms, or simply by using outdated methods which do nothing but send strong spam signals to all search engines.

I agree with Justin. I've read a lot about the subject on the Black Hat World forums and it doesn't seem worth it. There's a chance you could either get penalized by Google or scammed by the service providing the links.

It's either a waste of money, or a bad idea. As long as you submit to relevant carnivals, guest post, and thoughtfully comment on others blogs then you should be just fine.
