Ryan, I usually try to put mine after the intro paragraph.

In regards to where to get photos, this has been covered before (not that I expect you to know this). Here's two helpful links. Thread 1 and thread 2. I am sure there are other threads that have covered this if you want to search for them.

I use photos throughout the post for longer posts so people don't get bored, but if it's well-written, one at the top gets the job done. I use flickr, freedigitalphotos, and sxc.hu . You have to cite the source for the first two, and make sure that you're using stuff from creative commons at flickr that's not under copyright.

I use Morguefile a lot, but occassionally use freedigitialphotos as well. I typically put them at the top so they show up before the page break, but sometimes will intersperse them.

That said, if I have relevant pictures that I took, I will photoshop them and use them.

I used to always just stick them at the top of the article, but now I use them to break up the text. I think it adds to the user experience to have a nice photo that is related to the content (it also helps if you use Pinterest).

I now get 95% of my photos from FreeDigitalPhotos.net, and the rest from Flickr (or my friend who is a great photographer).

Depending on the length of the post, I may place the picture at the top, or in the middle if it's long.

I use Morguefile for pictures.

Thanks for the response...

Is that site considered a 'stock photo' type of site?

As I mentioned we make friends with photographers and use their images. They usually have nothing to do with the post we just like to make the photos looking a bit different. Have you ever though about taking that angle?

I typically use Flickr creative commons for my pictures. I used to use iStockPhoto, but that was before I found Flickr. If it's an investing post, I'll just insert the excel graph/chart as my picture.

Sometimes though I still will hit up iStockPhoto if I'm looking for something specific.

In my blog we only use photos as the blog post image. I was wondering how you laides and gents use images.

Do you like to create your own or find images to fit the content of your post (not the blog post photo but one inside the actual photo)?

Do you feel like it helps break up a longer post and allow readers to see something visual rather than just reading.

Also, where do you get your photos for the blog post?

Do you use stock images or what?

We get connections with photographers and use their images and just link back to a profile we have created for them on the blog. While it may not be a huge driver of traffic for them at least it helps get their images out there a bit.

Or if I missed another question that can go along with this one lemme know.

Cheers,

ryan
