It was indeed Akismet. I emailed them and received the same short, and quite frankly rude, reply as you did. They took me off the blacklist and warned me not to do it again (not to do what again I wasn't entirely sure).

In your case, I would maybe contact them again (by telephone if you could find a number) to discuss the issue again. You aren't doing anything wrong, and the sites do want your comments which is the whole reason that Akismet exists. Worth a try...

It's bittersweet to read this. I feel your pain but hope you can help as well.

I reached out to Askimet and they told me (rather rudely) that my comments were seen as spam by some people and therefore I was blacklisted. They took me off the blacklist and said it could only be done once. At first, I thought things were fixed, but quickly realized this wasn't the case.

On a few blogs, I can comment without issue. On others, my comments go right spam. If I don't include my URL in the website section of the comment, my comments go through close to 100% of the time. Sometimes they are held for moderation, but that is all.

From the time I was "cleared" to the time I noticed my comments weren't showing up again was like a day. I made maybe 5 comments max. Right now, I am at a loss for how to proceed. I get around the issue by simply not putting in my URL. I realize that comment links are mostly worthless in terms of links, but would still like them to make it easier for others to check out my site. Simply clicking on the link to see my site is a lot easier for others than actually typing in the URL themselves.

It seems your IP is blacklisted with them. You actually have to contact their support and get out of the box! Jon from Money Smart Guides had the same problem. There is no other way but to contact them.

Not wanting to have a full conversation with myself, but it now seems as if the problem is with Askimet, as I've now spoke with 5-10 people who use this and I'm in the auto spam for all of them.

Has anyone ever had any problems with Askimet in the past?

In fact, this appears to be a much bigger problem than I first realised.

This afternoon I monitored my comments, and I think that over half of them were automatically spammed!

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there anyway you can stop this from happening on other peoples' sites?

Hi guys,

I've been commenting on other peoples' PF blogs and sites for over a year now, and its just come to my attention that I'm being automatically spammed on quite a few sites. This is a little frustrating as I'm not spamming you...honestly...and I'm trying to add value to the articles with further conversation.

Could I please ask you all to take a few seconds to search for me in your spam folder as this is happening much more than I realised?

It would be good to keep the conversation going instead of just being automatically (and hopefully you will agree erroneously) dumped into spam.
