Pretty slick. Turns out the issue with my old computer was with the motherboard, not the hard drive. So the store where I bought the new MacBook transferred everything from old hard drive to new. It's like nothing happened, except for the ding to the pocketbook.

Thanks for the sympathies and well wishes. I should be caught up and back to what passes for normal for me tomorrow.

PS I did have a week-old back up, but still I was very pleased to hear the old hard drive was usable.

But visitors leaving this evening, so I can give my attention to getting back on my digital feet. Had to get up at 5 am today to steal a couple hours on my wife's laptop. Pray for me please that the back-up gods look kindly on me as I try to recover.
