Hi folks,

I've got a question for those of you who have a little more experience with the technical side of websites. I have a site that's hosted on blogger.com, but I use a custom domain. That domain has aged, and the site is now PR 2. What I would like to do now is revert that site back to the blogspot address and take the domain to a self-hosted site. Make sense?

Basically, I want to use the domain to start fresh with new content. I can just revert the original content back to blogpot.com and keep it there. What I want to know is if my domain will keep the page rank if I switch it to a new self hosted site.

Sorry if this is confusing! Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks

If you notify Google that you are moving, they will move the page rank as well. It takes a little while (I think I remember mine moving in a month or so) but it will move.

However, I was moving from a .com to another .com. Not sure if blogger.com counts but it's worth a try.

To notify Google, go to your Webmaster Tools. Make sure you have ownership claimed for both sites before you notify about the move.

I would also recommend trying to get as many as possible of your back links updated. I emailed blog friends who made the change for me. I simply listed the link where my old URL was included and asked that they change to the new URL. It worked in most cases.
