Interesting... seems that less is indeed more sometimes. :) Well, I am down to two posts a week. Will keep you updated if I see any drastic changes in my numbers.

I write twice a week on one of my blog for the past 2 years and traffic has doubled since then ;-)

Yep, I get very vexed when people send me messages all the time; and I un-subscribe. My take on your question will be - reduce frequency but tell people what you are doing.

I think it depends on how long this goes on for. If it's months and months, your readers might start feeling disengaged. If it's a couple of months, I would think you'd be fine. I think it depends more on whether you do things like respond to your comments and comment on other blogs. When I was on a temporary assignment last month, i had to cut my posting down, but I also cut out commenting pretty much completely, and I felt a definite pullback from my readers more so from that decision than from cutting out a post.

This is true for me as well. I don't like receiving too many posts, so I am more likely to subscribe if one posts less frequently.

if you feel worth it - go ahead and do the project. If income is not a worry then hire a staff writer to post once every week.

It sounds like the project is worth it. Some sites now only post once or twice a week. If I like the site personally, the reduced number won't drive me away. Just my personal experience.

Income is the least of my worries. Subscribers - the biggest. I feel guilty when I don't post, especially now that my subs numbers are growing almost every day. I feel like I will be letting people down. Does it make sense?

Re: the project - yes, if it is done right, it will be so worth it. :) That's why I want to do my best and put into it as much work and time as I can.

Last summer in my cross country move, cut back a bit, but scheduled lots of guest posts. Alexa ranking went down and traffic stagnated a bit. When I put more time in, built it back up.
