I'm participating, and I participated in the last one as well.  In the last one, I used my twitter and facebook as my follow methods and both follower stats increased by well over 500. 

One note, it does seem like most of the people that participate/signup for the giveaway are moms and/or mommy bloggers, so you'll likely see better results if your site is at least semi geared towards that demographic.  Mine isn't but I did ok, just not sure they're as sticky as I'd like. 

The cost to participate is pretty affordable as well.  $10 for two follow methods, and $14 for three.
