I want to be more transparent about my finances:  current credit score, debt, income etc...and I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that unless I was semi-anon.  Also, I write about parenting, and since our son is in the process of foster to adoption I want to keep it private.

My plan is to "go public" in 3 years.  Hopefully we will have reached our goals to be out of debt by then, our son will be fully adopted...and outing myself will not matter as much.

I also run things that might be sensitive past my husband to make sure he's okay with it. I've been quoted in magazines, written for U.S. News, and was a guest on the Today show, so my real name was necessary for all those things.

I started out with a pseudonym, but ended up switching to my real name because it just felt better for me. Just depends on what you want to do.

Essentially I was asked what name I would like to be referred to as for a guest post on another website, and realised that sooner or later I'm going to need to take the jump. How can I expect someone else to take me seriously as a financial blogger if I won't even commit to using a first name?
