To sort of echo what SPF said, I think people ask for submissions to their roundups because they feel they may have missed articles while they were busy during the week.

@MB: I asked for people to provide links to articles this week over in the PF forum. My monthly reading list is shorter than usual this month. I know I don't subscribe or read every blog possible so I hope(d) that people might point out some their outstanding articles so I could read them and possibly include them in Friday's post. I guess this is a little different as there are no guarantees but in my case I just wanted to be able to get some exposure to sites I may not frequent much (but may going forward!).

Not to step on any toes, but I'm curious about the request to "submit" for roundups. Is this common? I see it as normal for a carnival, but personally, I see being included in a roundup as an honor, that 1) the other blogger reads my blog and 2) really enjoyed that article enough to want to share it with their readers. That's the criteria I use when putting together my roundups, and it's pretty easy. I do most of my reading through Google Reader. If the post really stands out, I'll click through and often leave a comment. If it's one that I really love, I'll put a Star next to it, and then when it's time to put together my roundup, I just grab the articles that are starred.

Just my $0.02 and curious what everyone else uses as criteria to put together roundups.
