Hello everyone! I was contacted by a person wanting to know about prices of doing advertising on my site. It was a really exciting email for me to read because: 1. someone likes my site enough to seek me out to advertise on it and 2. because I have been doing research in affiliate advertising and how to raise the quality of advertising my viewers are subjected to.

Basically this is a blanket question. Any advice on pricing and methods? Previous experiences I can learn from? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Hi Bre. Be very careful with Direct Advertising. Google just dropped my site from a PR3 to a zero because they suspected that I was accepting money for direct advertising (such as sponsored posts, side bar links, etc. for a one-time fee). Now, if you do decide to accept the direct ad, you should no-follow the link (can be easily done, just Google it) so that you abide by Google's policies.

By the way, congrats on getting your first contact for an ad! It is very exciting to earn money from something you enjoy doing anyway. If you need any more help, feel free to contact me via email or respond in this thread.

Thank you a hundred times over Derek for that info! That is a real eye opener. I really don't want that to happen as I'm just now starting to see some revenue from Adsense. Could you tell me if that is the same case with affiliate ads and adsense or can Google tell the difference?
