Hosed means that you're paying too much for your va to do the back linking strategy for you.

Now that Pat Flynn's back linking strategy is very well known, do you think Google will try to penalize that too?

 

He didn't invent that linking strategy. He got it from Joseph Archibald's book. I'm pretty sure that strategy has been around for a long time, but it still works! I got my VA to use his strategy, and after a week, I jumped from not being in the top 100 to 19 for my keyword!

My backlinks are atrocious and I've never paid anyone for links so Panda definitely penalized me for other reasons!

Yeah, that's why I said it is one thing people get Pandalized for.  I wasn't saying all get pandalized for that reason alone.

One kind of SEO I came across today. Basically there are comment blasters, the spams you get all day, they are software programs that keeps track of open comment blogs and sites. And blasts off one after another requests in rotation. Coincidentally I got an offer today for $250 a month for getting 1500 backlinks a day in blast 1. And 3000 links twice a week by blast 2. I forgot the actual blast names.

Be careful before hiring this type of services as big G has enough intelligence to detect and punish. At least now I have answer to why 100s of people feel my blog is best and my content is unmatched.

The name you might be looking for is "XRumer," which is the name of the software which does this spamming.  It used to work really well, but you're right--Google knows how to detect nonsense like that.  Panda hit article directories, forums, etc. really hard, and those who had overweighted their backlink structure to these kind of sites were very often it.

(Not saying that a Pandalized site had to be spamming.  It's a square can be a rectangle but a rectangle can't be a square kind of statement.)

That actually might be a good price then. That backlinking strategy takes time and effort. I've duplicated pieces of it using Fivver but it would require lots of orders to get to what that strategy entails. How many months are you ordering?

Hmm.. 800 a month eh.  Not bad side hustle.  I kind of mastered the strategy...  Once I get under 100k I'll try to leverage my efforts into some side hustle income

Anyway, my question is what is your plan and time frame to earn $4000 or how much ever you are putting in back? How do you evaluate whatever they are working on? Based on # of backlinks? increase in visitors?

SEO is really not hard, time consuming, yes. The initial learning curve is a bit steep. But nothing impossible. And also you have to understand what kind of posts do well with SE. If you normally write personal posts, they might hit a  few long tail keywords, but they will never ever bring you millions of visitors by getting on the front page for saving money or some short popular keyword.

Decide what you want and then go from there. 

With that said, it is not always bad to hire someone else either. As far as I know no one who is offering this service in Yakezie is doing black-hat SEO (what One cent at a time is talking about). All of us do what google wants us to do, either you take the time to go through them and do it or hire someone to do it. 

My search engine traffic (and subsequently my adsense) when I slowly implemented this guide by Yoast (he makes a ton of the plugins people use daily)

It is AMAZING.  Just go chapter by chapter read it 3 or 4 times and then implement. 

$800 is a shitload of money to spend per month on SEO I can't imagine that turning to a positive return on investment but what do I know.
