I've had almost zero spam problems on my blog thanks to it, and I have a dofollow comment luv plugin enabled as well.

It's very rare but I saw Darwin in there once on a rare occasion that I checked it. I guess he forgot the captcha or something that time ;)

 

I do have dofollow for my top 10 commentators... I still get some spam that fills out the captcha but not too often.

Jason from Investitwisely.com and Kris @ everydaytipsandthoughts.com told me to use conditional captcha + akismet (which I was already using) to cut my number of Spam messages down from the hundreds that I was receiving daily.  I now get about 5 a day.

Below is the stats (note that I installed Conditional CAPTCHA just  a few months ago, so it's awesome).

Akismet has protected your site from 20,515 spam comments already.
There's nothing in your spam queue at the moment.

39,728 spam comments have been automatically discarded by Conditional CAPTCHA.

I also use the WP SpamFree plugin which tells you the page where the commenter came from so when I see inlineseo I usually delete the comment right off.

wonder if this means that I'm going to get hammered with shady guest
posts from sites using blackhat techiques...
