Hmmm, Based on what Tom wrote above, perhaps the spreadsheet ideas is not the optimal solution for fwisp!  Sounds like there would be more benefit linking directly to fwisp from the forum instead (even though the links are nofollow from yakezie.com).

It's not a huge deal to post from the forum, but that link to link type of system sure can't hurt. If the links from the forum are nofollow, at the very least it still helps with getting the fwisp link indexed. So many people build links to their sites, but if google never finds it, that link might as well not exist ;)

Kyle from The Penny Hoarder was the inspiration for this idea.  For various reasons it was not working for our group.  I wanted to open the idea of promoting each other's articles up to the entire Yakezie group with the hope that it would be easier to get articles published so I suggested we bring the idea to the forum.  So far with the few articles submitted it looks promising.

I'm up for any ideas that can help make this process better for all.

In my fall group we are doing this kind of social promotion too.  Our technique is a little different though as we're using a spreadsheet to coordinate our efforts and simplify the process a bit.

 

After we get the bugs worked out of the process, I'm planning on introducing the process to the rest of the Yakezie.

 

It's funny, reading your initial post, it sounds very similar to what we are going.  With our members, we are having those that are participating pick their best article from the previous week to promote in the current week.  This way we submit our best material (sometimes I have days where I blog about other things than just finance..., so I don't want that promoted...)

 

If you'd like, I'll send you the link to our spreadsheet and you can read our instructions.  Perhaps you'll consider joining since we are doing it weekly.  We too are working mostly with Fwisp.  It's a win-win!  We help each other, and at the same time promote Tom's site (gotta love win-wins!).

Can You Be Too Frugal?

Can someone explain to me how I provide a link to the fwisp article that I submitted? I can't seem to find it. This is a new thing to me. 

I submitted my article about being too frugal, but don't see it. I know there is something to do with votes, but I would think there is a way for people to see it to vote for it (maybe I just can't see my own?). Thanks!

Did you verify your user info after you created your account?   Your article will not show unless you do that.    I searched for your article and could not find it.   Let me know if you have trouble and maybe we can get Tom involved, he helped me with my account.
