I've been paid mainly per post, but I had one site that would pay extra for promotion and certain on page SEO that he wanted done. This is stuff that I would normally do anyway so I was able to earn 50% more per article.

As far as my staff writers, it's per post as well. I don't want the headache of tracking the traffic incentives.

I would either pay per post or based on traffic. The latter helps to more fully align the writer's interests with your own and incentivizes them to promote their posts on social media, etc. -- but it also creates a tracking issue.

PageRank should have nothing to do with paying a staff writer. It should be based on the quality of the writer's posts and the value they contribute to your site. (Taking budget into consideration of course)

I think it could go either way Rohit, but the majority of the time I see it on a per post basis. In terms of payment, I think it varies as well but what I've generally seen is based off of PR.

Just wanted to ask those bloggers who have staff writers. How much do you pay your staff writers? Do you pay them per post or on per month basis?
