HTML and CSS arent too hard... you don't need to know it all, you just need to know snippets here and there.

Yeah for less tech inclined I would advise WooThemes Canvas, as I mentioned in an earlier comment.

I'm using Thesis for all of my sites currently and love it. It's pretty powerful with what you can do with it, although, I will admit that I've heard from some folks that if you've less technically inclined that some of the other themes like headway may be easier to use..

I worked with Thesis for an old client for the first time recently... Took a bit to get my head round it but was happy with the results, it's quite powerful (if anyone wants to see madlovecooking.tv).

I've been using Thesis for 2 years and I really like it, but I've heard great things about Genesis and Headway as well. I'll probably try them out at some point down the road and see which I like best.

Using thesis right now - the theme isnt something that i'd like to spend too much time on, so it has just worked which has made me pretty happy. If I were looking again, I'd consider a few others.

Barb, we can build a separate wordpress installation in a subfolder for you, just as a playground.

Did you get a chance to play with version 3?

I haven't tried version 3 yet, they said it's not upgradeable from the old version for another week. Even then, I won't be in a hurry to update until I want to make a major change. More likely I'll try the new version when I create another site.

Speaking of how different sites under Headway can look, this is probably the best example yet that I've designed... Create Hype

I use Headway, thanks to live real now. Jason installed it for me and I haven't played around with it, but it looks beautiful.

I'm a non techie so I'm a bit afraid to try anything. Does anyone know if there's a way to play with it without touching my own site. I don't want to mess anything up.

I'm sporting Thesis right now. I came over from Tumblr so obviously I'm going to be amazed by the customization. I still haven't had a ton of time to play around with it, but I've been extremely pleased with what I HAVE changed.
