I do both.  Twitter I use for sharing links  RTing, as well as chatting throughout the day to keep up engagement.  Commenting on posts directly is better in my opinion since there is no character limit and thoughts can be fully formed and expressed.  The value of communication to me is more important than the link back in terms of comments especially considering the fact that 100 comments = 1 link back in terms of analytics (although the exposure from the links is a different story).  That being said, I agree completely that the referral traffic has the potential to be much more substantial from twitter.

Well said Eric. I totally agree. I do both but prefer commenting. I guess because I am talker and like the no limit.

When I examine Google Analytics I see the traffic for my site. I've seen some spikes with it on Couple Money, but it has really spiked traffic for my Married Food site. I think the food topic is more suited for stumbles rather than finances (who knew :P). Travel posts do well on stumble as well if that helps. 

 

Definitely interesting to see which type of articles tend to spike more. I've submitted a few articles, so i will be interested to see if any of them bring in some traffic. Thanks for sharing!

I have a hard time keeping track of all of the different places to publicize and network. In the past I have only focused on Facebook, but I know that I need to work more on Twitter. 

I've recently been trying to do more Twitter promotion, RTs follow the suggestions they give (I am following the lead of Financially Consumed  http://financiallyconsumed.com.....nish-line/)

What are your thoughts on commenting on posts via Twitter instead of on the blog page? It seems like the only negative would be not getting a link back but the huge positive is the increased traffic.

Do you see Twitter becoming the best source of traffic after search as well?
