I have had two or three giveaways and have used Rafflecopter for each.

I've never used anything else and was very satisfied with Rafflecopter. The giveaway's accomplished the goals I had set for them.

I can no longer see the Rafflecopter form on my posts (the contests have been over for awhile) but don't know if that is normal or not - could be related to my recent conversion somehow.

Yeah, it's not the prettiest thing to look at, but I'm a huge fan of Rafflecopter. I've done dozens of giveaways with it and it has always been easy to use. I pretty much set it and forget it....

I'm also a big fan of Ramit's giveaways. I think he just uses Aweber, but he always makes a great landing page to go along with it.

ex: http://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/1001-dollars/

You definitely want to list it on all of the sweepstake sites. It can take a couple of hours or you can outsource to someone like Jennifer @ BlogGiveawayDirectory.com. You'll get a lot of professional sweepers that enter your contest this way, but I've also found that I've gained some loyal subscribers from the sweep sites. It's a lot easier to make them loyal subscribers if you can capture an email address as an entry method...

Good luck with your giveaway!

You are definitely right on with your promotion methods. One thing I did was do a few book giveaways and I was lucky enough to get retweeted by the authors - that drove quite a bit of traffic to the site.

Other than that Twitter, Facebook, forums, and other bloggers are the best way to spread the word.

I'm with everybody else about Rafflecopter. There are some loopholes where the person can register without actually performing the "task" but most people enter legitimately.

For my first giveaway I went at it on my own and only allowed people to register for my Newsletter. It was easy to track and it worked out really well (over 300 entries), but for the 2nd giveaway I used Rafflecopter. I liked having multiple options for people to choose (facebook like, twitter follow, etc).

Rafflecopter is ridiculously easy from start to finish. They take you step by step, and even have a button to randomly select a winner so you don't have to deal with collecting and sorting info for any randomizers. Maybe the best part is that it stores prior contests so you don't have to start from scratch each time. All you do is update the details like times and prizes. Looks-wise, you can actually pay a fee and brand it with your own logo now, but otherwise, I never really paid much attention to the design aspect of it. Personally I don't hesitate to go right to their site when t's time for me to do a giveaway

I have searched in the Yakezie forums on the effectiveness of giveaways and am thinking I may give it a shot. I was wondering about people's approach in the best way to conduct a giveaway? I've heard of rafflecopter, but am wondering if there are better online tools out there? Should I do it myself without an online tool? How long should it run for? What is the best way to promote it outside of a post, Twitter, Facebook, and forums? Thanks!
