All, I posted as a happy HostGator user a bit ago. Here is a heads up on something I did not know.

When I signed up, I started with a pay by month - thinking I could switch later for a cheaper rate (they offer cheaper rates for 6 months, a year, 3 years, etc). I had a bad experience with my prior host and was reluctant to lock in.

Well, today I tried to switch to a longer payment period, thinking I would get a cheaper rate per month.

It turns out that the cheaper rates for longer periods are only offered on NEW accounts. Once your first period is up, I was told you go to the higher rates. This is something I hadn't realized and I wanted to give a heads up to anyone considering switching....

I am paying 8.95 a month for one domain.

I just recently switched to HostGator and really like their service and 24/7 easy chat access. Pricing was quite good. You can get discount by paying upfront for longer time but you can cancel at any time and get your money back for unused months. They transfered my site from another provider at no cost and it worked flawlessly. It was done in a few days over the weekend.

Though a lot of the lower cost hosts look the same, some are better than others. Try to read up on the hosts and ask questions.

I definitely think you should go with a .com address. Also, I recommend Host Gator as well. I knew nothing about websites, but I had no problems setting up a few of them already. The price and customer service are great as well, and they are very reliable!

Oh, if you use the coupon code "KNSFINANCIAL25" (no quotes), you'll save 25%!
