A quick glance at their metrics tells me that they are very inaccurate. They show my unique visitors all over the place, but a couple of other analytical service (including statcounter, which has always been conservative for me) show a steady monthly increase. Either way, I'm not sure how much faith you can place in their accuracy if every other service seems to agree.

Thanks,

I am trying very hard to understand how Compete.com works. Is there a toolbar to download? Do they track one visit per month per IP address? I'm clueless. This guy's blog has a compete rank of 12 http://ajayshahblog.blogspot.com/ and it at the top of the Wisebred lists, but only has a PR of 5 and Alexa shows his rank in the 600Ks. I guess they are pulling the Compete rank of blogspot.com, but for those of us that are self-hosted are we being hurt by this? With only 160 Google backlinks the PR of 5 seems high but who knows, he might have some great quality backlinks.

Should I move my blog to a blogger or wordpress hosted to piggyback their Compete scores?

So I am very happy with what I have learned so far as part of the Yakezie challenge, and my numbers are steadily increasing, with one notable exception, which is Compete.com. Those numbers are not reflecting the increase in readership I have seen in the past few months. Alexa keeps dropping, which is great, my readers numbers on average are almost 10,000 unique views a month, but Compete is not showing that at all.

Any great elders of the Traffic World care to explain why this might be? I have the compete.com software in my site, but it is in the footer, does that change anything?

Any help appreciated,

Regards,

Alan (aka Big Cajun Man)
