I have had the exact same thing occur. It makes more sense to me for an advertiser to want an ad to show on all your pages. I assume that they want the ad only on the home page because the reader will pay more attention to the ad since it is only listed on the home page. Seeing the same ad numerous times can lessen its impact.

Good point. Well, I've decided I like it and even went back and looked at all the other deals I've made - they were technically all homepage too. So I've changed it so my 2 "BFS Ad Sponsors" sections only pop up on my main page. I love it since to read any post older than 1 day, a person needs to click on it anyway...it cleans up my sidebars a little for actual readers and all commenters! :-)

As others have said the link looks more natural if it is on only one page. I'm going to have to check that widget out. I've just been using some PHP that I found through a Google search. Since I don't actually understand PHP and it isn't always easy for me to use the widget would probably work better.

I don't even know what PHP is, so the "Widget Context" plugin works way better for me, lol. :-)

It sounds as if your advertiser is looking more at link juice than traditional ad exposure. Typically your homepage will have a higher rank than your other pages.

That makes sense. Okay. Well, I like it better too since most of my readers actually click on my posts to read them, lol.

I use that widget and like it. It allows me to have different ad networks on my couponing page than the front page.

That's a great idea Kay Lynn!

As I understand it, homepage only ads are actually worth more than sitewide ads, because they look more natural. You can also set it using php.

That's dang interesting to me. I'd think the more natural look wouldn't be as important as being visible more often, but obviously not. Thanks Jackie!

I'm working with an advertiser to renew a deal and we actually worked out a deal that would make us both happy - then she brought up that she wanted the ads on ONLY the homepage. I didn't know how to do that but she told me about a plugin called Widget Context that lets you pick where all widgets show up.

My question is, why would she want to pay the same amount for a homepage only ad as an all site ad? She didn't even ask for a discount - she simply insisted that it be homepage only. Am I missing something?
