I use Google Analytics plugin to get some of the GA stats in my dashboard, you can always give that a try.

I would love to know how to get GA stats in your WP dashboard as well. I use WP stats because it is very convenient--like Glen said.

I've used WP Stats because you can get a quick view of what's going on in your WP dashboard, as opposed to going to the GA site.

But I'm not sure I want to install a slew of plugins just for WP Stats.

Does anyone know of a good plugin to see your GA stats in your WP dashboard?

I installed jetpack the day it was released and have been thrilled with it. There were a few bug fixes over the first few weeks, but it is very stable now and has some good features baked in. I use the stats feature for my day to day tracking and use Google Analytics for deep dives.

I havent heard about jetpack, but if push came to shove I'd make sure my GA was installed properly and just get rid of wpstats all together - I cant tell for sure, but I think it's double counting visits (that, or my traffic has grown). It returns different numbers than GA for the same stats.

Guys why not stick to Google analytics as it does a heck of a good job in my opinion for stats.

I would agree that GA is a preferred option. It's really the standard, as far as I know.

Anybody have a compelling reason as to why one should care about WP Stats when you already have GA? Just curious about what I might be missing.

I was thinking of doing the same. I never seem to get reliable stats from it and I too don't want the other parts. If not having it won't hurt my blog then I think I will also pass.

I installed Jetpack after I had set my blog up, haven't noticed any issues/concerns with it. I did a fresh install of WP at the time (self hosted via 1&1) and it wasn't a part of the core download, but I did like a few of the features it offered. No issues that I've noticed though.

My understanding is that Jetpack is part of the core WP install now, and since it's developed by Automatic and it's connected directly to WP.com, I can't imagine that it wouldn't be secure.
