Agree with everything. but that low competition is for the advertisers. It indicated there's not much competition for that key word. So as a ad seeker I would be more interested in those as those will cost me less money per click.

As a publisher we can still target high competition, but that only ensures higher per click revenue, as competition drive the price up.

For SEO this metrix doesn't have any significance

Aaah, great. That is new to me. Learned again something. I always thought that "competition" was also an indication for how much SEO competition there is for that keyword. This is a crucial difference. Thanks for pointing it out.

Big popular keywords, here I come. Now the advertisers will start knocking the door ;)

I always write what I want to say first, then fill out the info into the All In One SEO plugin. I don't really worry about writing for SEO, I let that happen on it's own. Personally, some (not all) of the bloggers that write for SEO---just kinda suck. I'd much rather read what they really want to say than the version that will get them better ranking and traffic. Just my opinion.

Very well said. I just write for writing sake. I do add the SEO stuff and if it sticks, great, if not well I just hope people enjoy the posts :)

This is what I do too, pretty much. Except I write first, plug it into Scribe, and then see what it says my main keyword is + make sure it's not too dense.

Correct, first write what you want then modify here and there as per keyword demand.

Example, I received a guests post "pors and cons of self-filing tax return" After my research I changed the title to

"pros and cons of preparing your own taxes", changed a few in-body sentences, added a few keywords in all-in-one-seo box and published.

I do that little tweaks on post written by me as well but only after the post is ready.

This is what I did as well. I wrote content on what I wanted to write about, and then tweaked them later down the road to optimize it.

I agree. I was all about SEO for about a week. It was just too much work imho and I would much rather focus on writing what I want to write about, not simply appeasing the search engines.

With that said, some of the suggestions offered on here are excellent. And look into some plug ins like All in One SEO Pack.

Start with finding approach that allows to post consistently new blog post 2 or 3 times a week. And do this for years.

That is the basis.

Select a long list of keywords that are somewhat related to each other and start writing regular posts that are SEO optimized for one of these keywords. Link internally between your posts for the keywords that are most important to you. Start with the keywords that have a few thousand search results per month and the lowest competition. Then expand.

I also want to recommend an awesome tool by SEOmoz. They have a 30 day free trial, and you have access to all the features that a Pro member has.

1) Use Google Keyword Research Tool - Compile a list of all your potential targeted Keywords

2) Use SEOmoz Keyword Analysis- Their tool will actually give you a list of all the Page 1 sites, and tell you what your chances are to be ranked on the first page.

3) Use SEOmoz On-Page Analysis- SEOmoz will "Grade" your page to make sure it's optimized. It will tell you where you need to improve on.

I've been using them for about 4-5 months. I've been getting awesome results so far, sometimes it only took me about 1.5 week to get on page 1 for a keyword.

If you end up testing it out, feel free to PM me and I'll walk you through what I did. Hope this helped!

Great info.

I also agree that time is one of the things you have to overcome. Google will not give most sites much love in their first months of existence. Once you 'prove' that you're in it for the long haul, you'll find yourself in more and more search listings.
