Lot of good information in that post. I contact hostgator and it's actually a very simple answer. I can set everything up without a domain pointing there, and just change the dns settings when I'm ready. My understanding is that at that point there may be a day or two where people trying to get to my site may have trouble. But right now I have such a small amount of traffic that I'm not overly worried about that.

I have a custom domain on blogger and I want to make the switch to self-hosted wordpress. I can find plenty of advice about registering a new domain and setting it up on host gator, but I don't understand how to set everything up on host gator, while keeping my domain name pointing to blogger, and subsequently pointing the domain to my wordpress installation when it's ready. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance for the help!
