I used escrow.com, thanks for the advice. I had the domain transferred, which ended up being fairly easy. The party I am stuck on, and spent 5 hours trying to figure out yesterday, was how to reload the content and theme on the site. Basically I switched the hosting to Bluehost, which I already use, and the previous site owner sent me all the back up files, and I tried using the livechat at Bluehost to help me out.

I cant figure out what Im doing, Ive loaded all the files using unlimited FTP, but now I cant even login into the site anymore. If there is anyone out there that can help me out and fix this for me, I would compensate them for their services, just shoot me an email at justinweinger@aol.com

2. I recommend BackUpBuddy. Install the plugin, make a backup, copy the backup to your site, and run a script. Poof, you've got the entire site, files, themes, posts, and all.

3. All electronic.

4. If it's not someone you know and trust. Go escrow. It's worth it.

As far as the money part Daniel and I had done half before half after as well as ZERO before and 100% after. As far as everything else we have also done the transfer but found just getting all their passwords to be the easiest way to do it.

I know that ebay recommends you use Escrow.com for such things. I don't know if there are any competing sites out there, but I think you can put the funds in escrow, that way the seller has assurance that you're not going to stiff them and you have the opportunity to ensure that you get everything you're supposed to before releasing funds.

Might be something to consider if you're working with a stranger. If it's someone you've interacted with or otherwise feel comfortable with, you could consider bypassing this to save the associated fees.

As far as the technical stuff, you'll need transfer of the whois record as well as all of the blog passwords and such assuming all the content is coming over.

I have come to an agreement to purchase a new PF blog from someone, but I have never done so before. I'd love any advice or assistance you experienced buyers could lend me. I intend on paying via paypal, however, I have some questions:

1.) How do we transfer the domain name to me?

2.) How do I transfer to my host?

3.) What paperwork needs to be filled out? Can it all be done electronically?

4.) Anything else to consider?

Thank you so much!

Justin
