Feedburner re-publishes the last 10 posts if you make any major changes to the feed

ahh that makes complete sense, thanks for clarifying

If you're only getting 10% swings, you're lucky! I have had mine drop to 0 for a day every now and then. That's just classic. I think there's no way to get an accurate count since not everybody interacts with your feed items every day.

Thanks for that tip Eric. It would explain why I suddenly lost a lot of subscribers when I switched my feed from excerpts to full posts. I guess I should be subscribing myself to notice things like that.

If you figure out which plugin is giving you the problem, I'll see if I also have that one installed.

For some reason, my reply isn't here. Oh well. I'll try again:

Thanks, Modest Money.

I do have WP Total Cache and WP-DB Manager installed, but they are also installed on my other blog as well. And that one hasn't had any problems. In fact, the only plugin I have on this but not on the other, and pre-dates the first time I had this problem was Blogger 301 Redirect which brings visitors from the old Entry Level Dilemma site on Blogger to the post they were looking for now on Edward Antrobus.

If it happens again, I'll give reinstalling wordpress a go. What is involved there, just deleting the folders and installing again? Will I loose my uploads or my plugins?

If I had to guess, I'd think it was caused by a plugin conflict. It seems that perhaps it is trying to cache those posts and the updates actually get set as new posts. Are you using any specific caching or backup plugins or anything else that might try to update those posts periodically? I would tend to think feedburner would be fully tested to prevent something like this, but something setup on a random blog might cause a conflict. You could try turning off those kinds of plugins and see if it helps. Or you might want to try using different plugins for those kinds of functions. Sometimes reinstalling wordpress fixes this kind of thing.

This happened again last night, making it three times this year.

Every so often, already published posts will get published to my RSS feed again. I'm using feedburner for my primary feed and I have it set up to tweet when a post is published. The system works well, except for when suddenly, my last ten posts will show up as new posts and get tweeted. All at once. So last night, not only did all of my RSS subscribers receive posts that they already received once, but all my twitter followers got spammed with 10 tweets in one second.

Does anyone know if this is a FeedBurner issue, or a problem with my source feed on WordPress? And how do I fix it?
