Hello!

I am curious about something. I have noticed that there is another website out there called everydaytipsandtricks.com, and a lot of my articles are ending up on this site (verbatim, although they do credit my site in the article). Should I care about this? I know I have done searches for certain terms and this site comes up in the search engine and mine doesn't, yet the article was lifted directly from my site.

Here is an example:

http://www.everydaytipsandtric.....-you-save/

Should I care about this?

It would annoy me. I put a lot of time and effort into my site, as I know you do too, and to have someone basically get the glory for it is beyond annoying. If it is just a random article here and there and they link back to you I would probably not worry so much (I will often direct my readers to interesting articles on other sites - though I always give credit) but if they are stealing all your content I would fight it tooth and nail.

Good luck and keep us posted.

P.S. I have a similar type of website where I offer daily tips, but mine are geared more towards singles and smaller families and so hopefully that will keep me off thie thief's radar for awhile. LOL!

That sucks. I noticed that one article of mine was posted on some foreign middle eastern website. I got a trackback for it and saw that they just stole an article in its entirety without giving me any credit. But at least (so far) that was just once.

Your story reminded me of something i read on problogger today, timely enough as it is.

Here is what the article said that pertains to you:

7. “If you ever have the good fortune to create a great advertising campaign, you will soon see another agency steal it. This is irritating, but don’t let it worry you; nobody has ever built a brand by imitating somebody else’s advertising.”

There’s nothing more heartbreaking for a new blogger when you see your content being scraped onto another blog or your intellectual property being used by others without credit.

I still get upset by this from time to time, however there’s one thing that I’ve noticed despite hundreds of sites each day republishing my work without permission and/or credit. Nobody actually seems to read those blogs.

The key to successful blogging is unique and useful information. People who simply regurgitate what you write, or even repost it word for word, either eventually give up (because nobody reads it) or get caught out (and stop in disgrace).

While there are times when I’ve chased down others who blatantly steal my stuff without credit (there is a line) I find it much more beneficial to spend my time creating more great content than policing how people use what I’ve already produced.

Focus the bulk of your time upon producing and being the best you can be. This will have more positive impact upon your business than the negative tasks of stopping spammers and thieves stealing your old ideas.

-credit, problogger. net (not trying to be that guy).

Good luck in dealing with this awful act. If you could, please let us know what you do so we can maybe all learn from it.

First, I'd report the site to google: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/spamreport?hl=en

Then I would go straight to their hosting company: http://peakdigital.net/contactus.html and lodge a complaint. Tell them that the site is stealing your content. Ideally, email and then do a follow up call. Email = official correspondence, call means you mean business.

There's no reason to accept blatant copy theft just because they mention your blog. That's ridiculous!

It was interesting because I was reading about someone whose page rank dropped substantially, and it turned out that there was a website that was basically mirroring theirs. They reported the other site and Google did raise their page rank. I have no idea if this site could be affecting me with Google, but I do hate that this site somehow ranks higher than mine for certain search terms. (I found this site from typing 'lessons learned from primates' in the Yahoo search engine. My site doesn't show up, but this one does.)

The thing is, this is a mega-consolidating site because there are many articles, not just mine.

Send an email to their host. Hosting companies are very serious about content and ownership and will request the owner take it down. If the owner doesn't do so, the webhost will usually terminate the account in 48-72 hours until the content is removed.
