Thanks Wayne. One day past of installing some of the spam plug-in and it seems to be working.

As long as the traffic doesn't in some way negatively affect the page (other than artificially inflating the visits), I am ok with that.

I've been using Akismet for months and not one piece of spam has made it through. On average, it catches 10 - 15 spam comments per day.

I don't know of a way to stop the spam traffic though. Every now and then, I'll receive 150+ visits from Facebook in under a minute.

I reached the "spammy comment" phase a few weeks ago and installed Growmap Anti Spambot. It doesn't seem to have had any negative effects and my search views are steadily growing. Hope that helps.

Hi all,

I guess I have "graduated" to plenty of spam comments and traffic. I found the topic on what to install to limit the number that get through in comments.

My next question is what does this do to your site's rankings and traffic? I'm hoping the answer is that it is neutral as long as the comments don't get through, but I am paranoid that it somehow creates some other negative affects. As always, thanks for your help!
