I added the Excerpt Old Posts plugin here on Yakezie - it leaves them alone on the site but changes all but the latest 50 posts to excerpts in your feed. That should help with the size. I don't have admin access to FS so can't fix anything with W3TC or the feed on that one.

Cool, thanks Andrea. Will ping you if the FS feed still doesn't work with my upcoming post on Monday.

Ever notice when we click the RSS subscribe button on the homepage w/ our iphones/smartphones, it asks us to subscribe to a podcast instead of the RSS?

Just adding to my trouble shooting notes as inevitably other people will have similar issues, I noticed this potential error in the "Trouble shooting" tab in FeedBurner

"The trouble: Invalid characters or XML markup in content items, often introduced by composing your posts in Microsoft Word or embedding JavaScript code in a post."

I don't think it's a coincidence that the post that didn't go out/update in my RSS Feed today had a javascript with a video. Hence, if you are posting a new article w/ javascript, be aware that your RSS feed *might* not go out for whatever reason.

It looks like this is probably the #1 reason for RSS not updating, hence Andrea's suggestion:

"The trouble: Your Original Feed is too doggone big! FeedBurner does not process feeds that are larger than 512K. Remember, your feed is an update on your content — not an archive for it — and you should use your publishing tools' controls to make sure your feed doesn't grow like kudzu possessed."

Thanks,

Sam

I added the feed to the never cache list. Definitely go to Feedburner and change the original feed URL to http://yakezie.com/feed&m…..xresults=4 – that should help as well.

I just typed this as you posted (This is for Financial Samurai btw, not Yakezie):

UPDATE: I changed the feed name to add /?maxresults=4 to limit the size, clicked Rysync in trouble shoot, and it showed two errors and unable to sink due to address I think. However, the feed finally came out. Not sure whether it is b/c I updated the feed name and reader max on the dashboard, or whether I clicked Sync. It certainly wasn't due to Pingshot or Pinged. Hmm.

BTW, the forum for some reason truncates URLs unfortunately. Try typing w/out http:// or wriing out "." with "dot". Sorry.

Thanks,

Sam

Anybody have issues after updating W3 Total Cache? I published my first post after installing the latest W3 Total Cache and now my RSS feed doesn't update with my latest FS post.

I have:

* Activated PingShot

* Pinged Feedburner with my RSS feed in Feedburner Troubleshoot

* And am now looking for where I can uncheck a box to not cache Feeds, but I don't see it in settings, or it might be writen in a way I do not recognize. I don't know where to add the feed to the "never cache list."

* Says at the top of the settings page for W3 Total Cache at "disk enhanced page is not active" and "Browser caching is not active." Click the "auto-install" button?

* I haven't changed the feed name to "maxresults=4" yet.

UPDATE: I changed the feed name to add /?maxresults=4 to limit the size, clicked Rysync in trouble shoot, and it showed two errors and unable to sink due to address I think.

Thanks Andrea. Got your e-mail as I pinged the Feedburner thing. Made some changes, but didn't click "Resync" yet to wait 30 minutes to see if just pinging the Feederburn thing manually. Looks like there are some Yakezie RSS feeds coming out now! I just wonder whether it will continue, or whether I will have to manually ping. We shall see with the next post.

Weird how a RSS feed could reach max capacity huh? Financial Samurai has never had a problem (yet) for RSS feed, and there are way more posts.

Thanks for reaching out!

Howdy Folks,

I noticed the Yakezie RSS feed just died on November 15 i.e. the last time the Yakezie RSS feed went out was a November 15. Before then, the output time had become more and more delayed. The last month before it went out, the RSS feed went out about 4-7 days after the first published post.

Anybody know what's going on and suggestions to fix?

Thanks!

Sam
