I've leaned that I don't have to accept it; I don't have to have a 30 year mortgage. And paying off debt is an excuse to not go blow money (limo wine tour, spa day) because that's what your friends/family are doing.

Hey there

I've never been a big credit card person but when I get on a roll, look out! As it stands, we have about $13,000 in credit card debt (I am literally cringing as I write this) and I have about $30,000 in student loan debt. It's not a pretty picture but I have made a lot of progress towards paying off these things (my debt was $50,000 in student loans).

One of the most important things I've learned is that small amounts can still lead to big differences after a couple months or a couple years. I had to learn patience and appreciate the contributions I could make at the time.

Well, I'm still in debt. We paid off our credit cards, but our school debt is out of control and still growing due to my husband's chosen career path. I've learned that you don't need as many loans as you think. I've learned I can live my life without a car, smart phone, and fancy dinners out. I've also learned that debt doesn't feel as heavy or controlling as long as you are living a frugal life and trying your best to combat it one step at a time. :)
