I do usually get 7 - 8 hours a night.

I tend to sleep about 7-9 hours per night and probably about 8 is the right amount for me. The important thing for me is getting up at the same time especially over the weekend. I find that I function better with a shorter amount of sleep, but with a regular alarm time then I function better than having the extra sleep.

I have been meaning to try biphasic sleep http://www.stevepavlina.com/bl.....sic-sleep/, as I really enjoy napping.

Yes, getting up at the same time all of the time is the best for you. Your body feels the best when it keeps a regular schedule. Glad you are seeing the benefits. We too try to do the same thing.

How about doing exercise at night? The light workout could relax you and help clear your thoughts. You'll be more tired and after a cool shower, pop into bed, lights out, and sound asleep like a baby.

Hey Jason--have you ever tried hypnosis? I did it for several months for another health issue, and she gave me CDs. Whenever I pop one in at night I fall asleep crazy fast. I'm sure you can purchase some anywhere.

There are also apps for your smart phone that work well. I have tried them in the past. Massage and yoga are also good for getting you in the relaxed state to sleep.

Great point, FSYA. I've noticed that avoiding sugar before bed helps me get a better night sleep and more refreshed the next day. Also, exercise helps too. Still need 7 or 8 hours though:)

That is quite a bit off from your ideal. Maybe you need to see if you can change any of your routines to fit in at least a couple more hours.

@Buck - Our older two have always been fairly independent sleepers. However, our youngest, being the baby, was allowed to wander into our room and hop in between us in the middle of the night on a regular basis. We didn't mind that much, but that habit did take some breaking.
