my experimentation and analysis has shown 8am CST to be the best, and gives maximum exposure to the post throughout the day

that said, i think it matters based on your audience and the type of post. for example, if you are posting on the bible and money, sunday morning or afternoon (after church) is usually a good time.

I haven't really experimented with this. I always post at 7 am. I figure that it'll be there all day, and the Seeking Alpha editer will automatically pick up my article and post it on the site at some point in the morning.

I guess I think in terms of my own blogging reading. Most blogs I read post approximately once every other day or so, so I usually check them in the evenings every other day. The time that they post will not matter to me.

I read 11AM was the best time of the day as well. But, does it really matter? If you write QUALITY content every post in and out, then you have nothing to worry about. You build traffic based on content, not the timing of each posts. If your writing skills suck, then maybe you can think of other ways to improve traffic...but if our writing skills suck, then we ought not be bloggers, right?

Just found an article discussing the best time of day to post. They suggest 11am EST.

Makes sense...east coasters are getting ready for lunch and taking a break from their work while west coasters are just arriving in the office and hitting their favorite sites before starting their day.

A promotion request category could be useful as long as it doesn't get too out of hand. If someone has a post they really want to push they could post it there and ask for some love. But it shouldn't just be a place to post every single article you write or if people only post there looking for links and don't participate elsewhere.

I would suggest a new thread where we can post on what sites we actively promote on or wouldn't mind promoting on if you asked. Fo instance, if I was asked to stumble, tip, digg, pfbuzz, fwisp, reddit, or tweet I'd be all over it or pretty much any other site if asked. The best way to ask me would be DM on twitter.

Do you guys think it's too much to ask to start a promotion thread? That's probably not a good idea since it would grow to be huge in a few days! Right now there are 4 bloggers who I send DM's to on Twitter when I post a new article and they help me to promote it on Reddit, Tip'd, and Stumble Upon. Just think of how great it would be if a good amount of Yakezie members did that for each other!

However, since there are so many of us, how in the world could we pull that off.

I know someone might say, just promote the article when you read it, but for me I go through cycles with my RSS reader. Meaning I'll start from A and work my way down to Z - it takes me over a week to get through the Yakezie blogs (who are also adding new stuff all the time)! So, it's better for someone to send me a message on Twitter asking for help promoting an article.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

Hey Kevin, what kind of traffic do you get out of Tip'd? Never been that successful with it myself.

I get around 25 visits per day from it but I just recently started and for me that's about 20% of my traffic. I have noticed a better turn out from reddit with around 40 visits a day. This is all from google analytics. Statcounter shows it being more so I really don't know the exact number. But for me that's a lot.
I am not sure which analytic system is best, but would suggest that you use the same one. That is the best way to follow your results, you know? Kind of like Alexa, it may not be the best it could be, but it is a consistent metric to follow and track your site with.

Kevin, I like your idea about getting to the front of Tip'd by lunch time. Same thing about Reddit.

Forest, I've had days where half of my pageviews came from Tip'd (of course I get far less than you, so I'm not sure if you'd see the same results).

There so much to consider here. I tend to post around 8:30-9:00AM EST.

But from a personal perspective, I don't often stop to check out the many blog posts in the morning. I'd read them later in the day and usually comment and promote them when I get home.

With Google Analytics, you can see what are the time of the day that you get the most traffic and use that information to optimize your post schedule.

Also, I think it has a lot to do with your niche. I am aiming at the business and real estate investment crowd that seems to get to work early and are looking for something interesting to read before they actually start their work day.

Just my 2 cents.
