Combine the ideas? Here's a third option:

Use Google's Spreadsheet Application

Put the Graph on a new page

Publish it (should be an option on the graph itself. You also need to change the share to 'Anyone with a link')

Embed it using a widget?

That might be the best option. What do you think?

hmmm, seems complicated to me! I'll post back here once I figure out what to do and get everyone's opinion.

Thanks, Andrea! Me + Code = not a good idea, but I will use this if I can't find another option. Was hoping someone knows of a plugin that does this.

Andrea's option is good - you basically just have to paste it into a widget, then edit the last value every month. You'd probably spend more time if you drew the chart manually each month and uploaded it.

Yeah it would save time in the end. But I would be able to do the same in Excel by tying a chart to a set of values I update each month. Both are good options!

A manual method would be to create a chart in Excel or whatever spreadsheet program you use, then upload a copy of the chart as an image file.

I can't believe I didn't think of that! Thanks!

I announced on my blog recently that I am challenging myself to pay off my mortgage as soon as possible. We just made our first large lump sum payment toward that goal, and I want to put up a ticker so my readers can visualize my progress. I've seen these on other blogs before, but can't remember where.

Anyone know of a good ticker (a plugin, perhaps) I can use for this purpose?
