Will Ferrel could do an entire movie based on the SNL 'Celebrity Jeopardy' skit and I would probably see it 10 times.  Those are the best.

Will Ferrel could host a screening in my living room of any of his movie, including models as ushers, and I would still try to gouge my own eyes out to use them as ear plugs.  Will Ferrel is to acting what dog poop is to an expensive pair of shoes.

I thought Big Daddy was a really good movie., and I really liked The Longest Yard  Other than that, the Wedding Singer and Mr. Deeds, I never really cared for much of his body of work.  His characters on SNL's Weekend Update were comedy genius IMO.  As far as Farley, I couldn't hate anyone more, as I cannot stand physical comedy like he did (just wan't my thing).  I do like the fact that he's loyal and puts his friends in a bunch of his flicks.  One of the funniest movies I've seen was one with all of his boys called Grandma's Boy, which had my stomach hurt by the end.

He does look out for his boys.  Guess I can't get too mad at him.

I was never a big fan of his on SNL only because I thought every one of his characters was exactly the same.

He played a show at my college and their was a minor controversy because they put it in the chapel (it was a small school) and as you know, his shows are not always a good fit with a chapel.  The show went on and was a good success.

Because of not liking SNL, I skipped over Billy Madison and Happy Gimore, until a buddy made me watch Happy Gilmore, guaranteeing I'd love it.  And I did.  I just love silly humor like that.  My favorite part of the movie is actually when they have the love scene on the ice rink where he's kissing the girl and it pans out and the old guy is lip syncing along to 'Endless Love'.  Don't know why but that kills me every single time.

I don't go to the movies too much now so I have little knowledge of what's a hit or not.  I saw 'Grown Ups' was on the Starz On Demand channel recently and watched that, and thought it was actually really funny.  Good ensamble. 

I think the premise of his most recent one is just a little too out there, which is probably why it 'flopped' according to what I read this morning.

Bottom line, I think he's hilarious but his humor is hit or miss, and he the stuff that worked when he was in his 20's is probably harder to come by now that he's in his 40's.

Need to catch Grown Ups, heard that was a good watch.  Great point about what works in our 20's doesn't necessarily work in our 40's.

I heard somewhere that Bob Barker refuse to do the fight scene in Happy Gilmour until he learned that he would win!

My husband and I just had a discussion about actors like Adam Sandler who keep doing movies because they can and they will make large sums of money...but the quality is not necessarily there.

 

I would think you can only do that so many times before Hollywood stops paying you the big bucks, and then you would have to reprove yourself. Then again, people will usually keep coming out for a name like Adam Sandler (like Jai said).

 

BTW I have not watched his recent movie, so my opinion is not based on that. (However, we don't want to see it in theater from the previews. Might netflix it).

Funny, it's easy for me to criticize Sandler for his awful movies of late, but if I were in his shoes and getting millions tossed into my face, who knows, perhaps I would cave and make less than stellar movies too.

I'm a huge fan of Adam Sandler. But I guess I always thought his movies would mature a little over the years – he's a little past the fart jokes stage at this point in his life (or should be). 

My favorites of all time: Happy Gilmore (I will never get tired of hearing Bob Barker say, "The price is wrong, bitch!"), Click, Mr. Deeds, and Funny People. And Chuck and Larry definitely has a spot on the list, but mostly because I love Kevin James.

Bob Barker was awesome in that one.  Have to also keep Mr. Deeds and Funny People in mind.  Thanks!

Actually, I have to say that I like the movies he's done in the last decade over his earlier works. I hated Billy Madison and can only stand Happy Gillmore about once a year. But I just saw Jack & Jill a few weeks ago and enjoyed that, plus saw The Remote for the second time last week and remembered how much I liked it. And of course, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry is in my list of Top 10 movies.

Perhaps that's why I am a little jaded as I missed Click and half of Chuck & Larry.
