@Glen, I was looking for statistics in general. This includes labor stats, family budgeting, retirement, etc. It seems like a variety of these sites fit the need, but I will have to supplement them with google, from the sound of it.

@Liquid - that's an interesting site - I feel slightly less optimistic about changing the world though after looking at that site.

I just use well-known resources like Gallup Polls, AP polls, the Bureau of Labor Stats, Census.gov, etc.

NationMaster.com is decent. Some categories are a little out of date but it offers a diverse range of categories both within country and internationally. It's fairly simple to find what you need and create charts, etc. Definitaly worth a look.

I just Google for it, using a few different related searches to try to find the most useful statistic.

It helps when you know exactly what stat you are looking for.
