Hi ABD,

I think the underdog role describes almost all of us. I was wondering if it changes for people in different situation. Like if you had a major accounting challenge, since I assume you're very good at what you do, wouldn't you momentarily switch gears out of the underdog role?

The Little Engine That Could fits you perfectly! You read my mind. I'm actually brainstorming on ways to incorporate these forum discussions. Will definitely keep you mind. Thanks for the suggestion!

Really? You actually thought of this nickname for me? That is hilarious. Gosh we are cut from the same mold.

I'm with you. I feel like I need to work harder or smarter in most things. This may have been a loaded question. I can't imagine anyone coming out and saying, I feel like I'm a favorite. Just wanted to delve into the minds of fellow underdogs. Thanks!

I have definitely been the underdog in my life however I have somehow made everything work out. I guess that is why my mom always called me 'the little engine that could'. I somehow perservere and reach my goal despite troubles along the way. Even when most things don't come easy I still find a way to move foreward.

Buck, I think you should start doing these as round ups on your blog. It would be a great way for readers to get to know us. I would love to help out if you wanted to start something.

I prefer the role of the underdog, that way it acts like an encouragement to move up society's ranks.

I use it as encouragement, too. Let's take something you are very good at, like investing. Do you view yourself as an underdog there, too?

Always. There will always be those better than me, because no one can be smarter than the market. And compared to the guys who have been doing this for decades, I certainly can't compare myself as their equal.

I would have to go for underdog. Certainly someone that needs to take advantage of everything and play a little bit cleverer in order to win rather than going toe to toe with. I have that attitude in most things in most sports and it probably spills over into real life and building websites a bit. I rarely find myself in a position as a favourite, so I would find it odd to have that attitude

Hi KC,

It didn't surprise me that you would make your own choice. Ironically you mentioned pidgeon holed. Since life is so complicated with the endless scenarios and personality types, I tend to simplify things, maybe to a fault. Black or white, right or wrong, underdog or favorite. Perhaps this is a good reminder for me to appreciate the gray areas, too. Thanks!
