Being able to have a body of work I'm proud of is a good one...plus being part of a blogging community that's fulfilling and rewarding to me (and getting paid to do what I do) keeps me going, even in the months that I have no money.

I'm motivated because blogging helps me do things I've never done and go places I haven't gone...like FinCon, World Domination Summit in new cities with great people. It has helped me grow a heck of a lot! When I struggle I keep that in mind- the potential is great!

It started as an outlet to write and keep myself accountable. Now I have several motivators:

1. I believe people should eat better and it's good to share my experience/assistance to make that happen.

2. Due to health issues I don't get a lot of interaction with the general public, which stinks because I'm a social butterfly, so blogging provides a great community.

3. We are considering starting a family next year and I would like to monetize my writing to pay off debt and provide additional income.

I'm sure there's more, but that's just off the top of my head.

My main motivator is my compulsion to write. If I go a day without writing something, I feel like something is missing.

I'm also motivated by my readers and all the new blogging friends I've made. I need to keep improving if I'm going to even think about hanging with some of my favorites. Like American Debt Project said, the more I write, the better I get. And since I want to get better, I use that as motivation to keep practicing!

If you feel burned out definitely step back and take a break. If you blog a couple of times a week cut back to just once or twice. If you only blog once or twice a week cut back to every other week. Life ebbs and flows for me and sometimes I'm much more interested in blogging then others. In those times when you are really into it I suggest writing posts and saving them for a rainy day. That way you can always pull some out of the coffers when you aren't in the mood. Some days I can write 10 posts, other times I can't come up with a topic for days. Take advantage of the days when you are most interested and keep them in unpublished form until you need it.

Unfortunately right now what keeps me motivated is that I'm unemployed and throwing all my work ethic into the blog. If/When i become employed? Hopefully then the community of great people supporting my blog will have grown, and I'll look forward to interacting with them. Otherwise it'll turn into a journal of nonsensical musings...we don't need more of that; that's what Facebook is for!

What keeps me motivated? I publicly announced my goals at the beginning of this year, and one of those goals was to post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I have stuck with that all month. If I give up now, I have a lot more to lose. I will lose my credibility, respect, etc. I don't want to go there. Plus, I'm inspired to see my stats each day and to see new comments. It lets me know that people are listening and I'm invoking some sort of discussion. That's why I make a point to visit a few new blogs to comment and provide that extra encouragement for new bloggers so that they don't feel like they are talking to themselves...that's a lonely existence...

For me it's part of a long term 5-10 year plan. Over that period of time I intend to build a proprietary trading firm. A big part of that is acquiring capital, which I'm working on. But another aspect is finding talent. For various reasons I intend to train employees rather than hiring people with trading experience. In order to make that work I need training materials, and Off-Road Finance is in part a repository for that. In that sense it's working out well.

A secondary goal is to create literate conversations about trading and finance, as a means of helping my readers and furthering my own education. In that sense it's working out less well – my first attempt of building up a forum was a complete flop – other than a few favors I called in, no one posted. Plan B is the standard blog comment support – I'm just trying that out now, so we'll see how it works, but so far it's a tad better – there's been one interesting discussion.

If the topic of trading interests you, by all means stop by.

A lot keeps me motivated to blog, because it's more of a hobby rather than a chore to me. But, I guess my readers, myself, and the fact that I've come this far - I should just continue going! But, mainly, the relationships I've made throughout the way

Excellent question.

For me, I blog for an audience of one...meaning, I write to express myself. Since communication is the goal, and I want people to actually read what I write, I have to keep the readers in mind.

Passion is a great motivator. A pursuit of excellence is too.

I actually have a blog post coming out Monday on this very topic, called 'An Audience of One'

I remind myself about when I used to have 2 jobs and played in a band, and never had any time to myself. What I am doing is far better. However it is probably not healthy to just focus on the negative what used to be, so I think I will find some pictures of villas with swimming pools next to the beach and place them round my computer!

However, it is not always easy to keep this in mind.

Post from other bloggers about how they have developed and grown their business are very inspiring.

Keep sharing how you have been growing, and keep it real.
